CySEC Launches Consultation on Fee Amendments for CIPs and Market Operators

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has published two consultation papers regarding amendments to the fees paid by entities supervised by it. The first document concerns Cypriot Investment Firms, Market Operators, and branches of foreign investment firms, introducing changes to the methodology for calculating annual fees and modifying post-license notifications. The second consultation paper relates to Regulation (EU) 1286/2014 on key information documents for packaged retail and insurance-based investment products (PRIIPs). It proposes the introduction of annual fees and charges for PRIIPs producers, investment advisors, and PRIIPs sellers. CySEC states that the fee revision is part of a comprehensive review of all its fees and charges, aiming to better align them with the nature, size, and complexity of the activities of supervised entities. Furthermore, CySEC seeks to reduce its dependence on public funds and strengthen its financial autonomy through the fee revision.
