Qatar Energy Minister: Oil Exports from Gulf Countries Will Halt if Price Reaches $150

Qatar's Minister of Energy, Saad al-Kaabi, stated that if the conflict in Iran escalates and the price of oil reaches $150 a barrel, Gulf countries will halt energy exports within weeks. Qatar has already stopped production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in retaliation for attacks in Iran. Al-Kaabi warned that such a development would negatively impact the global economy, increase energy prices, and cause product shortages. Furthermore, he expects crude oil prices could reach $150 a barrel if the Strait of Hormuz closes. The expansion of QatarEnergy's North Field will also be delayed.
