Electric Vehicles Save 1.7 Million Barrels of Oil Per Day in 2025

A new study by Ember shows that electric vehicles contributed to saving 1.7 million barrels of oil per day in 2025, compared to 1.3 million in 2024. The study highlights that a $10 increase in the price of oil per barrel increases the global oil import bill by $160 billion annually. Electrifying vehicles could reduce global fossil fuel imports by a third, saving $600 billion per year. China and Europe have already seen significant savings in oil imports thanks to the growing number of electric vehicles. The study also notes that using electric vehicles can lead to significant cost savings for drivers, especially during periods of high fuel prices.
