Students in Akrotiri returned to their classrooms today after the lifting of the evacuation order. The Deputy Mayor of Akrotiri, Giorgos Konstantinou, confirmed the return to normalcy, while the Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, visited the community on Saturday to provide instructions regarding the inspection of the structural stability and seismic resistance of school buildings. The President of the Parents' and Guardians' Association, Paulina Argyrou, stated that the children were accommodated at the B' Primary School of Kolossi during the evacuation and have now returned to their school without any problems. The Minister's visit and the presence of relevant officials focused on the safety of the children. A readiness exercise is scheduled for Wednesday at the Akrotiri Primary School, aiming to familiarize students and teachers with procedures for dealing with emergencies, such as the activation of sirens. The exercise will help prepare for potential needs. According to Ms. Argyrou, two rooms will be used as a gathering point and temporary shelter in case of need. The exercise is part of efforts to enhance the safety of students and school staff.
