Suspect in Major Drug Case Attempted to Flee to Northern Cyprus with Stolen ID

A 68-year-old Cypriot man, accused in a major drug case, attempted to flee to Northern Cyprus using a stolen ID and wearing a mask. The suspect, who was arrested during his attempt to cross the Deryneia checkpoint, denied the charges against him, which relate to the import and possession of narcotics. The case is considered the largest of its kind investigated by the YKAN, with the drugs having the potential to create approximately 300,000 doses and generate profits of €1.5 million. The suspect had been arrested earlier during a raid on his home in Larnaca, where the drug-soaked sheets were found.
