Erhurman: "Choices of the Republic of Cyprus Create Risks"

T/C leader Tufan Erhurman stated that there is full coordination with Turkey regarding developments in the region and that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the security of the pseudo-state. He argued that, despite a sense of security, there is no room for complacency and that the pseudo-state is one of the safest areas. Erhurman criticized the Republic of Cyprus for its attempt to develop military agreements and alliances, characterizing this approach as unrealistic. He specifically referred to the Andreas Papandreou base in Paphos and related military agreements, arguing that these choices may create risks that also affect Turkish Cypriots. Erhurman emphasized that Turkey emphasizes peace and diplomacy, mentioning the contacts of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Turkey's ability to contribute to ending the crisis. He expressed his support for the deployment of Turkish F-16s in the pseudo-state, rejecting criticism from the Greek Cypriot side. Furthermore, Erhurman argued that military mobility in the Republic of Cyprus is increased, while he characterized the criticism of the deployment of Turkish F-16s as unfounded, emphasizing that Turkey is a guarantor power for the entire island.
