Germany Will Not Participate in Operations Against Iran, Says Foreign Minister

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that Germany will not participate in operations against Iran, but will take defensive measures if German military personnel in the region are threatened. She acknowledged that there are issues with international law, but stressed that Iran also poses a threat to Europe with its missile system and terrorism. Mr. Baerbock mentioned that around 30,000 German citizens are in the region, but the conditions do not allow for their immediate repatriation. He added that Germany has received threats from Iran through cyberattacks and an increased risk of terrorist attacks. Furthermore, the Foreign Minister mentioned that the death of Ali Khamenei could improve the security of Israel. He pointed out that the competent authorities are closely monitoring the situation and that he cannot guarantee absolute security. Finally, he stated that he understands the actions of Israel and the US.
