Lakkotripis' Business Activities and Implications

Published January 15, 2026, 20:18

New developments have emerged from a report by ALPHA regarding the business activities of former minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis. The report concerns his involvement in the board of directors of a Greek copper processing company shortly before the end of the legal waiting period for taking on such a position after leaving the ministry. This company supplies materials for the construction of underground and submarine cables and has contracts with ADMIE, which is involved in major electricity interconnection projects. This raises questions about a potential conflict of interest, given Lakkotrypis' role in significant energy issues during his tenure. The Independent Committee that reviews the business activities of former officials is being called upon to explain how it assessed the implications of Lakkotrypis' involvement in the company.
