20 New Hotels Planned for Larnaca, Boosting Tourism Prospects

The President of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Dr. Nakis Antoniou, expressed optimism about the tourism prospects for Larnaca in 2026, highlighting the city's role as the European Capital of Culture in 2030. According to Dr. Antoniou, there are approximately 20 applications for the construction of boutique hotels in the city, indicating investor confidence in Larnaca's potential. These boutique hotels are expected to boost the local economy, as tourists who choose them tend to spend money in local restaurants, cafes, and shops. Furthermore, the removal of oil tanks from Larnaca's waterfront has significantly contributed to improving the city's image and attracting tourists. Regarding the development of the Larnaca marina, a meeting is expected with the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works to receive updates on the pilot study undertaken by the Hellenic Public Investment Fund. In parallel, the Legal Service of the Republic is expected to provide its opinion on the request of Prosperity Group CY Ltd to undertake the development of the port and marina, based on the existing contract. The company had proposed the unified development of the port and marina a year ago. Finally, the completion of Phase III of the Larnaca – Dekeleia coastal road is expected to improve access to the city and further enhance tourism. Dr. Antoniou concluded by emphasizing that Larnaca has great potential for development in the tourism sector.
