Jovic Sets Historic Derby Record, Nears Demis' All-Time Best

Luka Jovic set a historic goal-scoring record in the AEK versus Panathinaikos derby, scoring four goals in the match that ended 4-0. This achievement is the first in the history of the Greek Super League where a player scores four goals in a derby between the two teams. Overall, Jovic has scored seven goals in two matches against Panathinaikos, surpassing the record of Demis Nikolaidis who had scored eight goals in a season against Kalamata. Jovic's performance is a continuation of his excellent form, as he had scored a hat-trick in the first round of the match against Panathinaikos. In this way, he became the first player to score so many goals in both derbies of the season. The previous record for the AEK-Panathinaikos pairing was held by Antonis Antoniadis with four goals in two matches in the 1972/73 season. From AEK's side, no other player has scored more than three goals in the two derbies with Panathinaikos in a season. Kostas Nikolaidis and Thomas Mavros had scored three goals each in previous seasons. Jovic's outstanding performance and AEK's 4-0 victory confirm the team's dominance and effectiveness against Panathinaikos, while also highlighting Jovic as one of the top scorers in the Greek league.
