Ioannidis: Working on a Returns System - It Will Be Strict and Fair
Negotiations have begun at the European level to create a new regulation regarding the return of third-country nationals who do not have a legal right to reside in the EU. The Cypriot Deputy Minister for Migration and International Protection, Nicolas Ioannidis, stated that Cyprus is working on a returns system that will be strict but also fair, respecting international law and human dignity. He emphasized the importance of effectively returning those who do not have a legal right to stay and the need to implement return decisions throughout the Union. The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU will seek a regulation that strengthens confidence in the European migration framework.
