Minimum Wage Stalemate – Double Failure for Government and Mousiouttas

The Government and Minister of Labour Marinos Mousiouttas are facing criticism for failing to secure an adequate minimum wage and implement hourly wage calculation. Despite previous promises, the Government was forced to back down in the face of employer reactions, maintaining the existing system where the minimum wage differs depending on working hours. Private sector unions believe the set wage of €1088 gross does not meet the real needs of workers and are calling for a review before its official implementation.
