Commissioner Calls for Urgent Action to Address Damp Problem at Hambis Printmaking Museum

The Commissioner for Administration, Maria Stylianou Lottidi, expressed her concern about the ongoing failure to address the damp problem at the Hambis Printmaking Museum in Platanistea, which threatens cultural heritage. The problem has existed since 1998 and, despite occasional interventions, has not been definitively resolved. The Commissioner reports that the dampness is causing damage to artworks, such as oxidation and warping, and points out that the situation is worsening due to the neighboring residence. The complainant claims that the recommendations of her office have not been implemented. The Commissioner emphasizes that the protection of cultural heritage is a fundamental obligation of the state and competent authorities, and that addressing the problem must be an immediate priority. Delay may lead to irreversible damage to the artworks. The Commissioner activates the provisions of the law and sends a letter to the Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives, requesting immediate action to resolve the problem and protect cultural heritage.
