N. Kaklamanis in PtoV: "The EU awakening must be permanent, not occasional"

The President of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikitas Kaklamanis, visited Cyprus and met with the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou. During the meeting, Mr. Kaklamanis expressed his satisfaction with the EU's response to Cyprus's request for defense reinforcement, emphasizing that the security of Cyprus is inextricably linked to the security of the European Union. He wishes this reinforcement to be permanent and effective, not temporary. Mr. Kaklamanis assured that Cyprus is not alone and that Greece, as the first country to respond to the request of the Republic of Cyprus, will continue to support the security of the island with every possible means, as it did by sending frigates and fighter jets. He stressed that any threat to Cyprus constitutes a threat to the entire EU, which was also demonstrated by the participation of other European countries in the defensive shielding of Cyprus. Furthermore, Mr. Kaklamanis emphasized Greece's position for de-escalation of conflicts and a return to diplomacy, with respect for international law and freedom of navigation. Conveying the solidarity of the democratic political forces of Greece to the Cypriot people, Mr. Kaklamanis concluded by assuring that Cyprus is a safe destination. The visit of the President of the Hellenic Parliament to Cyprus aims to reaffirm Greece's steadfast support for Cyprus and strengthen cooperation between the two countries on issues of security and mutual interest.
