Norway 'Ready' to Discuss Nuclear Deterrence Idea with France

Norway is 'ready' to discuss with France the idea of nuclear deterrence involving other European countries, as proposed by President Macron. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated that discussions will take place within the framework of the partnership agreement Norway already has with the United Kingdom and Germany. At the same time, he emphasized that Norwegian policy regarding nuclear weapons remains unchanged: no nuclear weapons will be allowed on Norwegian territory in peacetime. Norway, a member of NATO, shares borders with Russia in the Arctic.
