Fidan to Switzerland to Support Turkey's Inclusion in Trump's 'Peace Council'

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will travel to Switzerland to participate in the signing ceremony of the Board of Peace Charter, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This move comes amid international discussions about the role of the new international organization promoted by Donald Trump. The Peace Council, with Trump designated as lifelong president, has sparked strong reactions. Its charter focuses on broader initiatives for "stability, restoration of legitimate governance, and lasting peace" in conflict zones, without explicitly mentioning Gaza. Membership in the Council requires a contribution of $1 billion within the first year for permanent participation. Critics, including leaders from the European Union, express concerns that the Council is an attempt to undermine the United Nations, with Trump having stated that it “could” replace the UN. Israel has already announced that it will participate in the Council.
