Oman and Saudi Arabia Discuss Yemen Crisis

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Bader Al Busaidi, met in Riyadh with his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to discuss ways to find a political solution to the crisis in Yemen. The meeting took place after Saudi airstrikes in the port area of Mukalla and amid rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The Saudi-led military coalition has clashed with Southern separatists in recent weeks, despite the latter being nominally part of the internationally recognized Yemeni government. The Southern Transitional Council (STC) is supported by the UAE. Concurrently, the United Arab Emirates announced the end of the deployment of its armed forces in Yemen, indicating the depth of the rift between the two Gulf allies. The situation in Yemen remains unstable, with efforts to find a political solution complicated by regional disputes and internal conflicts between various factions.
