Ombudsman Intervenes: Works at Champi's Engraving Museum at Risk

The Commissioner for Administration intervenes to expedite the resolution of a chronic humidity problem at the Champi's Engraving Museum in Platanisteia, Limassol, which threatens priceless works of art. Despite repeated reports and recommendations since 1998, the Limassol Provincial Administration has not taken effective measures to address the problem, resulting in damage to significant works. The Ombudsman accuses the Provincial Administration of non-compliance with her recommendations and activates the provisions of the legislation, forwarding the case to the Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives. The situation has reached a critical point, as the continued humidity endangers cultural heritage and the artist's property. In her letter to the Provincial Administration, the Ombudsman states that specific technical works have been proposed to address the problem, but have not been implemented. The Ombudsman calls for immediate restoration of the space to ensure the protection of the works and the safe operation of the museum.
