Cyprus Hotel Association President Sees Stable Occupancy Rates for 2025

The President of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE), Thanos Michaelides, has estimated that occupancy rates for 2025 remained at the same levels as 2024, with some cases showing slight improvement. This creates an environment of stability for the tourism sector. However, he stressed that profitability has not increased at the same rate as revenue, due to high operating costs, particularly energy costs. Mr. Michaelides emphasized the importance of continuous investment in hotel units to improve services and facilities, which requires adequate profitability. He also referred to the steps taken to facilitate the issuance of work permits for personnel from third countries, which are a significant source of labor for the hotel industry. PASYXE has submitted proposals to the Ministry of Labor to create stability for workers from third countries, so that they can work in Cyprus on a year-round basis. This stability is considered crucial for the quality of services provided. Finally, Mr. Michaelides stressed the central role of service quality in Cyprus's reputation as a tourist destination, as high quality contributes to maintaining a steady flow of visitors and creating loyal tourists who support the local economy.
