Cyprus Inflation Remains Near Zero

Inflation in Cyprus remained at extremely low levels in February 2026, with the annual rate reaching just 0.1%. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.12 units, reaching 99.86 from 99.98 in January. On an annual basis, the increase was marginal, at only 0.06%. Positive changes were mainly observed in restaurants and accommodation services (4.7%), education (3.7%), recreation, sports and culture (2.4%), and agricultural products (4.2%). Conversely, significant decreases were noted in clothing and footwear (-6.8%), transport (-3.7%), electricity and water (-9.3%), and petroleum products (-7.4%). The largest positive contribution to the CPI came from catering services (2.82 units), followed by recreation (2.79 units) and rents (1.42 units). Conversely, a negative impact was exerted by gasoline (-2.28 units), mobile communication services (-1.50 units) and insurance (-1.13 units). On a monthly basis, the CPI fell by 0.12% due to falling prices for vegetables (-0.19 units), electricity (-0.10 units) and food (-0.08 units). A slight increase was recorded in clothing (0.06 units) and rents (0.05 units).
