POΤ: “No Information, No Support”: Criticism Over Benefit Freeze

The Pan Cypriot Organization of the Blind (POΤ) has announced protests outside the Presidential Palace on Tuesday, in reaction to the suspension of the examination of applications for the blind allowance. The Organization denounces that 15 blind people have already been deprived of the monthly allowance of €382, which has been granted since 1996. POΤ accuses the government of lack of information and support, as well as illegal actions that deprive the blind of significant rights, while it is estimated that the abolition of the allowance will save €8 million.
