Presidential Office Reeling from Video Scandal - Resignations and Political Cost

The Presidential Palace is in a difficult position following the release of a video concerning the Independent Social Support Fund. The President's wife, Philippa Christodoulidou, has resigned from the presidency of the Fund's Foundation and all her charitable activities, followed by the resignation of Charalambos Charalambous, Director of the President's Office. The resignations were triggered by intense pressure from the opposition and coalition parties, with DIKO playing a significant role. The government is trying to manage the crisis, demonstrating determination for a full investigation of the case and taking measures. One of the proposed solutions is the abolition of the Fund and the transfer of its functions to the State Scholarship Foundation. President Christodoulides stated that he is approaching the case with seriousness and called on the competent authorities to fully investigate it. He emphasized his intention to abolish the Fund, but assured that a way would be found to continue supporting disadvantaged students. The President criticized the political forces, pointing out that the crisis will have a cost for everyone and that maintaining high tones will lead to further complications.
