Process for New Paphos Metropolitan Continues Amidst Tychikos's Stance

The process for electing a new Metropolitan of Paphos is moving forward despite the former Metropolitan Tychikos's refusal to comply with the prerequisites set by the Holy Synod. The Archbishopric calls on Tychikos to sign the Confession of Faith, withdraw his appeals to civil courts, condemn the schism, and avoid actions that cause scandal. The Church of Cyprus will not wait indefinitely for Tychikos's decision, and if he does not comply, he will be deprived of his priestly duties. It is emphasized that civil courts have no jurisdiction in ecclesiastical matters, and the Church has its own legal framework. The election of the new Metropolitan of Paphos is independent of Tychikos's case and will proceed normally at the next session of the Holy Synod.
