UK Minister Assures Cyprus is Considered a Safe Country

The UK Minister for Europe, Stephen Doughty, assured the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, that Cyprus is considered a safe country. The assurance was given during a meeting at the House of Representatives. Mr. Doughty conveyed that London will maintain a constructive role in the Cyprus issue. Ms. Demetriou welcomed the Minister, emphasizing that his presence is a message of normalcy and security in Cyprus. The two officials discussed the need to maintain tourist flows from the United Kingdom and issues of security and defense. Mr. Doughty referred to the strong ties between Cyprus and the United Kingdom and the Cypriot communities in Cardiff. Ms. Demetriou emphasized that Cyprus is part of the solution and not the problem and that the country desires the continuation of commercial and tourist cooperation with the United Kingdom. She also confirmed that Cyprus is in the green category of London's travel advisories, confirming the safety of the country.
