Rubio: Cuba's Measures for Diaspora Investment are 'Insufficient'

US Senator Marco Rubio has criticized Cuba's recently announced measures to attract investment from the Cuban diaspora, describing them as “insufficient.” Rubio, of Cuban descent and a staunch critic of the Havana regime, stressed that the Cuban economy is in a difficult situation and the political system is unable to find solutions, calling for radical changes. US President Donald Trump stated that he will take action regarding Cuba, having previously said he “believes” he “will have the honor of taking Cuba,” without clarifying what he meant. The Cuban government recently announced that the diaspora will be able to invest in various sectors, such as banking and agriculture, in an effort to boost the economy, which is suffering from a six-year crisis and an oil blockade by the US. The situation has worsened with frequent power outages, such as the recent general blackout, which was the sixth in a year and a half.
