Trump Says He's No Longer Obligated to 'Think About Peace' After Nobel Snub

Donald Trump sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre expressing his dissatisfaction with not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, despite claiming he “ended more than 8 wars.” As a result, he stated he no longer feels “obligated to think exclusively about peace,” but can focus on what is “good and right for the USA.” In his letter, Trump reiterated his request for the United States to purchase Greenland, challenging Denmark’s sovereignty over the island and arguing that Copenhagen cannot protect Greenland from Russia or China. Støre confirmed the authenticity of the letter and responded that the decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize is made by an independent committee and not by the Norwegian government. He also described Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on European countries opposing his attempt to gain control of Greenland as “unacceptable.”
