Taxi Strike in Cyprus

The Pan-Cypriot Taxi Association (POAT) has announced a 24-hour strike from 6:00 AM on Tuesday to 6:00 AM on Wednesday. The strike is a result of the lack of response from relevant authorities following a previous four-hour work stoppage on January 13th. POAT seeks to promote its demands and threatens an indefinite strike from January 27th, if there is no positive response. The taxi gathering points during the strike will be at Larnaca and Paphos airports, as well as in the parking area of Potamos Germasogeias in Limassol. The strike is expected to cause significant disruption to transportation, especially for passengers who rely on taxis for their travel. POAT has not clarified its demands in detail, but they are expected to relate to issues concerning working conditions and the finances of taxi drivers.
