Taxi Drivers in Larnaca to Stage Work Stoppage, Threaten Further Strikes

Published January 9, 2026, 13:26

Taxi drivers in Larnaca are announcing an escalation of their mobilizations, starting with a four-hour work stoppage next Tuesday, January 13th, due to the uncontrolled activity of passenger transport applications, especially at the airport. They complain about the lack of substantial action from the competent authorities despite repeated meetings. If no immediate solutions are found, they warn of a 24-hour strike on January 20th and ultimately an indefinite strike on January 28th. Their main demands are the complete disconnection of the applications' signal from the airport outside Larnaca and the strict observance of the taxi base by all applications.
