In the Last Plenary Session, a Bill for the Utilization of State Land

The Parliamentary Committee on Interior discussed a bill proposed by AKEL MP Christos Christofides, aiming to enable the utilization of state land in the most economical, efficient, and effective way. The bill proposes conducting competitive bidding for commercial purposes and reverse auctions for renewable energy projects, with the goal of reducing energy costs for citizens. Christofides accused the government of delaying the submission of regulations for the utilization of state land and emphasized the need for transparency, meritocracy, and accountability in the concession processes. The bill will be put to a vote in the Plenary Session of the Parliament on April 2. The AKEL MP stressed that the proposal aims to prevent phenomena of collusion and opacity that have been observed in the past. The utilization of state land is a significant issue for the Cypriot economy and requires responsible and transparent management. The bill is expected to provoke intense debate in the Plenary Session, as it concerns important economic and environmental issues.
