Condolences from Akinci and Tatar for Vasiliou

Former Turkish Cypriot leaders Ersin Tatar and Mustafa Akinci, along with Ozdil Nami, expressed their condolences on the passing of former President of the Republic of Cyprus, Giorgos Vasiliou. All three Turkish Cypriot politicians conveyed their sorrow to the deceased's family and the Greek Cypriot community through social media. Mustafa Akinci emphasized that Giorgos Vasiliou was dedicated to a logical solution to the Cyprus problem, even after leaving office, continuing to contribute to efforts for the reunification of the island within a federal framework and emphasizing dialogue with Turkish Cypriots. He described him as a man with a realistic and modern vision. Ersin Tatar stated that Giorgos Vasiliou would be remembered for his different approach compared to other Greek Cypriot leaders, as he highlighted the search for contact and dialogue with the Turkish Cypriot side during his term. Ozdil Nami, in a warm message, bid farewell to Giorgos Vasiliou, emphasizing that Cyprus has lost a significant political leader and that if he had been in the position of negotiator at Crans Montana, the outcome would have been different.
