Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Organizations Participate in European Conference on Inclusive Education

Representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot educational organizations participated jointly in a European conference on inclusive education held in Chisinau, Moldova. The conference, titled “InclEdu4AllNeeds,” was co-organized by the European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) and the European Federation of Employers in Education (EFEE). Over 90 representatives from 28 countries participated in the conference, focusing on the inclusion of people with disabilities or special educational needs in the school environment and in the teaching profession. The organizations POED, OELMEK and OLTEK from the Greek Cypriot side, together with the Turkish Cypriot organizations KTÖS, KTOEÖS and DAÜSEN, actively participated in the proceedings. The representatives of the organizations exchanged good practices and developed common guidelines for removing discrimination. The role of social dialogue in building accessible education systems was emphasized, and research data and good practices were presented. The participation of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot organizations in the conference is a step towards promoting cooperation and mutual understanding in the field of education, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and equitable education system for all.
