The Bank of Cyprus has detected multiple fake profiles on the social media platform Threads, which use the name and photo of its CEO, Panikos Nikolaou. These profiles appear to provide alleged investment advice or promote investment opportunities, misleading the public. The Bank categorically clarifies that the CEO does not provide investment advice through social networks and that the Bank never requests personal data, passwords, or sums of money from the public via these platforms. Any such post or communication is false and intended to deceive. The Bank of Cyprus urges the public to ignore and not interact with the fake profiles, to refrain from any financial transactions or sharing of personal details, and to immediately report these profiles to the Threads platform. It also emphasizes the importance of verifying any information through the Bank's official channels. The Bank has already informed the relevant platforms and is taking measures to protect customers and the public from fraudulent activities. Protecting customers is a top priority for the Bank of Cyprus.
