Pension Reform, Energy, and Water Issues Discussed at Presidential Meetings

Meetings were held at the Presidential Palace, under the leadership of President Nikos Christodoulides, focusing on three key areas: pension reform, energy, and the water issue. Regarding pension reform, the goals of ensuring adequate and increasing pensions, as well as the sustainability of the Fund and the implementation timeline, were discussed. The water meeting was briefed on the critical situation due to prolonged drought and discussed actions for desalination plants, the use of recycled water, and demand management. The aim is to cover water and irrigation needs. Concerning energy, the progress of energy plans was discussed, including the terminal in Vasiliko and other efforts to reduce energy costs and ensure electricity supply. Progress in the commercial exploitation of natural gas deposits in the Cypriot EEZ was also examined. In addition, the upcoming visit of Ministers to the UAE to continue discussions on cooperation in the implementation of important energy and water projects was discussed.
