Banks Association: 36% of Foreclosures are Suspended – 10,000 Registered on e-auction

The Cyprus Banks Association presented the e-auction electronic foreclosure system, managed by ACB E-Auctions Ltd. The system operates under a strict legal framework, with foreclosures executed fully automatically. 36% of published foreclosures are suspended due to agreements between debtors and lenders. Approximately 10,000 users from Cyprus and abroad are registered on the system. Physical foreclosures ceased in 2022, with all now conducted electronically. The law requires the publication of foreclosures 45 days prior to execution on various platforms. Debtors have the right to observe the foreclosure process and bid for their property, while first-degree relatives may be eligible for preferential participation in certain cases.
