Mehmet Dana, a "deputy undersecretary" in the office of the Turkish Cypriot leader, met with UN Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary Di Carlo in New York. During the meeting, the current state of diplomatic efforts regarding the Cyprus issue, the positions of both sides, and potential next steps were evaluated. Mr. Dana is at UN headquarters for a series of contacts, following the recent reports by the Secretary-General on the Good Offices Mission and UNFICYP, as well as ahead of the Security Council resolution on Cyprus expected at the end of the month. In addition to the meeting with Ms. Di Carlo, Mr. Dana met with representatives of the Permanent Members of the Security Council: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Russia. He also had contacts with representatives from Germany, Pakistan, Liberia, and Panama. The discussions focused on developments in the Cyprus issue and the findings of Antonio Guterres' reports. The purpose of the contacts is to promote the positions of the Turkish Cypriot side and ensure a favorable outcome for the Security Council resolution.
