AI and Work: Which Professions are Most Threatened?

A new study by the European Commission presents an 'AI Exposure Index' for 100 professions, revealing that the most exposed are engineers, software developers, and educators. The study examines the interplay between AI research, the cognitive skills required by professions, and the tasks that describe the nature of each job. Conversely, less exposed are professions requiring physical presence, social interaction, and manual dexterity, such as cleaners, construction workers, and waiters. The study also finds that the higher the earnings of a profession, the greater its exposure to AI. The report suggests integrating AI into education, developing new skills, and adapting educational programs to new technological demands.
