France Calls for NATO Military Exercise in Greenland

France has called on NATO to conduct a military exercise in Greenland, offering to contribute. This move comes after threats from the US to potentially occupy the island and Donald Trump's rejection of French President Emmanuel Macron's invitation to participate in a G7 meeting to resolve differences. US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant responded to Macron's move by urging him to focus on France's domestic issues. France has already sent a small military detachment to Greenland and plans to send further naval, air, and land forces. Troops from other European countries are already in Greenland for Denmark's 'Operation Arctic Endurance' exercise, with Copenhagen having strengthened its military presence on the island.
