Ministry of Energy: Procedures underway to recover €67m from EU for terminal

The Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michalis Damianou, informed the Parliamentary Committee on Energy regarding the progress of the implementation of the liquefied natural gas terminal in Vasiliko. He pointed out that procedures are underway to recover €67 million from the EU, which had been granted as a subsidy for the project, through offsetting with other amounts and cash refunds. The Minister stressed the priority of completing the project and seeking a new contractor through a tender. He also mentioned discussions with the United Arab Emirates for a possible completion of the project by a company from the Emirates. The Committee requested the submission of the Technip study, which is being processed by ETYFA.
