Foreign Ministry: Diplomatic Efforts Continue for Repatriation of Cypriots

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that diplomatic contacts and efforts to repatriate Cypriot citizens in the region continue following the attacks on Iran. Contacts are being made with EU member states, institutions, and third countries, while ongoing assessment of developments is taking place. The activation of an EU solidarity clause is not currently being considered, as processes are evolving at a bilateral level. Most stranded Cypriots are in the United Arab Emirates, where their accommodation is covered by the emirate. In Dubai, a process of compensating reservations is being followed, while the financial resources of the Republic are also being utilized. There are also Cypriots on a cruise ship in Qatar and in Bahrain, for whom efforts are being made to transport them to Cyprus via Saudi Arabia. Efforts are at an advanced stage but depend on the state of airspace.
