Argaka Dam Overflows, Water Conservation Appeal

The Argaka Dam overflowed this morning, around 8:30 AM, due to recent rainfall. Although the overflow is a positive sign, as water reserves are low, the Water Development Department is calling on the public to use water responsibly. The Argaka Dam has a capacity of 990,000 cubic meters of water and is part of the Chrysochous irrigation project. It operates in conjunction with other dams in the area, such as the Evretou, Agia Marina, and Pomos dams. The Forestry Department emphasizes that the inflow of water into the dams does not mean unlimited consumption and calls on citizens to limit themselves to absolutely necessary uses. Despite the overflows of the Argaka and Pomos dams, the situation remains critical and requires prudent management of water resources.
