Ghislaine Maxwell to Testify Before House Committee, Will Invoke Fifth Amendment

Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein, is testifying today before a House of Representatives committee, but is expected to invoke her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. The hearing, taking place via video conference, follows the release of millions of pages of documents related to the Epstein case, which implicate numerous public figures. While the mere mention of a name does not necessarily imply criminal liability, the document release has caused widespread concern. The committee, led by James Comer, had previously sought criminal immunity for Maxwell in exchange for her testimony, a request that was denied. Maxwell’s attorneys warn that the hearing is purely political and will not yield new evidence. Democratic Representative Ro Khanna has already published questions he intends to ask, including one regarding possible involvement of Donald Trump. Furthermore, it was revealed that Deputy Attorney General Todd Bensman had visited Maxwell in prison and questioned her for a day and a half, leading to her transfer to a prison with less restrictive conditions.
