Paphos Mayor Case: Rape Allegations to Court

The Legal Service has instructed the prosecution of the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, regarding the alleged rape case. The case concerns offenses allegedly committed in 2014, and the Legal Service deemed sufficient evidence exists to proceed with the case in court. The case file is returning to the Police for the preparation of the indictment, with a potential initial hearing at the Paphos District Court followed by referral to the Criminal Court. The case was initially sent to the Legal Service in February and returned to the Police for further investigation. The evaluation of the evidence was based on complaints from a businessman and the alleged victim. It is noted that Phaedonos is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
