Boost for Public Parking Spaces in Larnaca City Center

The Municipality of Larnaca is promoting the strengthening of public parking spaces in the city center, regaining possession of two multi-story parking lots managed by a private company. The agreement with the company, which had been awarded the contract in 2013 for 18 years, will be signed soon after a long legal dispute. These spaces, a multi-story in the Laiki neighborhood and a smaller outdoor lot on Ermou Street, will be renovated and equipped with smart parking systems, which are already in operation in other municipal parking lots. This move comes after the loss of parking spaces due to the renovation projects of the central commercial streets. The multi-story in the Laiki neighborhood will offer 200 parking spaces, while the space on Ermou Street will offer approximately 30. Combined with existing parking lots, such as the one opposite the Pancyprian Lyceum (91 spaces) and the building next to the Municipal Market (80 spaces), as well as the parking lot in Agiou Lazarou Square, the Municipality of Larnaca will have more than 500 public parking spaces available. Mayor Andreas Vyras stated that the renovation work will begin immediately after the signing of the agreement and is expected to take about a month. Strengthening parking spaces is a priority for the Municipality of Larnaca, with the aim of better serving the citizens and visitors of the city.
