Phytiris-PASIKA: Safety of entertainment centers in focus - Association reacts

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Phytiris, met with representatives of the Association of Entertainment Center Owners to discuss safety, legality, and licensing issues related to entertainment centers. Irregularities and illegalities were identified, particularly regarding fire safety permits and unauthorized constructions. The Minister emphasized the non-negotiable priority of citizen safety and called on the Association to submit proposals for improving the licensing procedures. Meanwhile, the Pan-Cypriot Association of Entertainment Center Owners (PASIKA) expressed strong disappointment and outrage over the withdrawal of the bill on entertainment centers from the plenary session of the Parliament, characterizing it as a serious institutional setback. PASIKA stated that the bill was the result of extensive dialogue and had secured the support of the majority of parliamentary forces. It accused specific circles of coordinated efforts to overturn the balance achieved through the dissemination of misleading information. The Association argued that the withdrawal of the bill deprives the hospitality sector of a modern and balanced institutional framework and raises serious questions about the motives that led to the decision. It considered the withdrawal a blow to parliamentary dialogue and a reversal of a collective and democratic process.
