Compensation for Livestock Farmers: Agriculture Ministry Announces Measures for Foot-and-Mouth Disease
The Ministry of Agriculture assures livestock farmers that it stands with them in tackling the foot-and-mouth disease and is examining ways to fairly compensate them. The compensation will cover the value of the affected animals, as well as loss of income. Payments have already begun to 8 farmers, with the remaining 37 to follow. The virus was introduced into the free areas from the occupied territories through illegal trafficking, a fact being investigated by the authorities. Communication is ongoing with the technical committee in the occupied territories for coordinated management of the problem.
