Model Autism Center Planned in Free Famagusta

President Christodoulides announced the commencement of work on a model autism center in the free province of Famagusta, with a budget of €4.5 million and an expected completion time of 18 months. The announcement was made during the President's statements following his participation in the charity run “Run for Autism” in Ayia Napa. The race, organized by volunteers, gathered over 5,000 athletes from 20 countries, aiming to financially support compatriots with autism in the province of Famagusta. The President Christodoulides emphasized the need to address the challenges faced by people with autism in the region, recalling his previous announcement regarding the creation of the center in February 2025. The implementation of the project is being carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Ayia Napa, which has already announced the relevant plans. The President noted that the creation of the center is a minimal obligation of the state towards its compatriots with autism. He also referred to his daily training, lasting one to one and a half hours, as a necessary condition for coping with his duties. The Minister of Health, Neophytos Charalambides, the Deputy Minister of Migration, Nicolas Ioannides, and members of the Presidential Guard also participated in the race, underlining the broad support for the initiative.
