Archaeologists Discover Sealed Chamber 40,000 Years Old in Gibraltar – Sheds Light on Neanderthal Life

Archaeologists have discovered a sealed chamber in the Rock of Gibraltar that has remained closed for approximately 40,000 years. The discovery, at Gorham’s Cave, is expected to provide new insights into the life of Neanderthals. The cave has already revealed evidence of hunting, the use of feathers for decoration, and abstract rock art. Recently, a 60,000-year-old oven was found, used for making glue from birch. The excavation leader, Clive Finlayson, described entering the sealed chamber as one of the most exciting moments of his career, as it is extremely rare to find a space untouched by humans for thousands of years.
