Bulgaria to Hold Early Elections After Weeks of Protests

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev announced today that the country will hold early elections after the three largest parties refused to take responsibility for forming a government, following the resignation of the previous government last month amid widespread protests. Today, Radev gave the “Movement for Rights and Freedoms” (DPS) party a final opportunity to try to form a government, but the party declined, the third to do so this week. As a result, Radev stated: “We are going to elections.”
