Campaign at Larnaca and Paphos Airports to Combat Illegal Trafficking of Cultural Goods

A campaign has begun at Larnaca and Paphos airports to combat the illegal trafficking of cultural goods, an initiative of UNESCO with the support of the European Commission and Cyprus. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vassiliki Kassianidou, emphasized the importance of the initiative to protect cultural heritage and combat looting. Cyprus is honored to host the European launch of UNESCO's global campaign, confirming its commitment to preserving cultural heritage. The campaign will help raise public awareness and strengthen the common will to preserve cultural heritage. Special thanks were given to Hermes Airports for its support of the initiative. The illegal trafficking of cultural goods poses a serious threat to global cultural heritage, as it deprives peoples of elements of their historical memory and identity. The campaign is a joint effort of public bodies, international organizations and private companies to strengthen prevention and the protection of cultural heritage.
