Collective Bargaining Agreement Signed for Staff of Community Volunteering Councils and Committees in Cyprus

A collective bargaining agreement has been signed between the Pan-Cypriot Confederation of Services Employees PASY PEO, the Cyprus Services Employees Federation OYYK SEK, and the Pan-Cypriot Coordinating Council for Volunteering (PCCS) regarding the terms of employment for staff of Community Volunteering Councils (CVCs) and Committees (CVECs). The agreement, covering the period 2026-2028, regulates issues such as overtime, leave, welfare funds, allowances, and benefits, while introducing uniform pay scales. The Director-General of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, Yannis Nikolaidis, played a crucial role in reaching the agreement. The President of the PCCS, Elias Dimitriou, emphasized that the agreement addresses significant gaps and ensures decent working conditions for CVC/CVEC staff. The signing of the agreement is a milestone for strengthening the volunteer movement and promoting social cohesion and well-being. CVCs/CVECs provide critical support to vulnerable groups, such as infants, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The PCCS, as the coordinating body for volunteer organizations in Cyprus, aims to shape policy in the field of voluntary social welfare and collaborate responsibly with government agencies. Supporting CVCs/CVECs and their staff is considered essential for maintaining social cohesion.
